History & Origins

Founded in 1975 by Arthur Silverton as Shuler Presses in Farnham, Surrey, the company tackled perceived flaws in early Range Rovers. Silverton experimented with swapping engines—first Jaguar V12, then GM V8—and added handling improvements, braking upgrades, and luxury interiors. In 1981, a Shuler‑prepared Range Rover triumphed in the grueling Paris-Dakar Rally, cementing the brand’s reputation for performance.

By 1985, the Range Rover division spun off as Overfinch, renaming the firm and positioning it at the forefront of high-end Range Rover enhancements.

Despite entering administration in 2010, its largest dealer, Autobrokers of Leeds, acquired Overfinch and relaunched it under new leadership. In the 2010s it expanded globally—including a dedicated U.S. facility—competing directly with the likes of Bentley and Rolls‑Royce in the luxury SUV market.

Design Philosophy

From the outset, Overfinch championed performance, craftsmanship, and exclusive luxury. Their philosophy merges refined engineering (enhanced engines, bespoke suspension, braking systems) with artisan-level interior finishes—custom leathers, veneers, embroidery, and thematic touches. Their Art of Bespoke initiative allows customers a full palette of colours, finishes, and materials to create unique one‑off builds.
