State of the art Tools

Our state of the art tools ensure precision, efficiency, and top-quality results by leveraging the latest technology in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.

We offer a complete range of services for Land Rover, Ranger Rover, and Jaguar vehicles, including diagnostics and servicing of all major components: Engine, Transmission, Brakes, Suspension, Tyres, Batteries, Electronics, Exhaust, ECU, A/C, Chassis and Bodywork. We also offer a quick and easy MOT service.

It depends on your model, driving habits, and mileage—but here’s a solid guideline based on manufacturer and independent specialist advice:

  • Oil and minor interim service: Every 5,000–7,500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Includes oil & filter change, fluid top-ups, and basic safety and wear checks.

  • Full or major service: Typically every 12 months or 10,000–16,000 miles, whichever comes first. Covers deeper inspections: filters, brake fluid, drivetrain, battery, spark plugs (where applicable), etc.

  • Manufacturer intervals vary by model: Many models advise a full service at 16,000 miles/12 months and a major one every 21,000–24,000 miles or 24 months.

  • Severe use (off-roading, towing, short trips)? Then more frequent servicing is wise—think shorter intervals and more frequent fluid checks.

Routine maintenance typically follows a schedule—such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and brake inspections—designed to keep your Land Rover running smoothly and prevent bigger issues.

However, signs that your vehicle may need major repair rather than routine service include:

  • Unusual noises – knocking, grinding, or whining from the engine, transmission, or suspension

  • Warning lights – persistent check engine, ABS, or other system alerts on your dashboard

  • Fluid leaks – puddles under the vehicle or frequent low fluid levels

  • Loss of performance – sluggish acceleration, poor fuel economy, or gear shifting issues

  • Smoke or unusual exhaust – especially thick, dark, or white smoke

  • Excessive vibrations or pulling – especially while braking or turning

If you notice any of the above, it’s best to book a diagnostic inspection as soon as possible. Catching issues early can often prevent more costly repairs down the road.

At Alan Curtis Land Rover Specialist, we’re happy to advise whether your vehicle needs a simple service or something more in-depth. We use specialist diagnostic tools and have years of experience working exclusively with Land Rovers.

Yes, we specialise in diagnostics and repairs for both new and classic Land Rover models. Whether you drive a modern Range Rover with advanced electronics or a classic Defender, we have the tools, knowledge, and experience to keep it running at its best.

We use up-to-date diagnostic equipment compatible with the latest Land Rover systems, as well as proven techniques for older, more mechanical models. From routine servicing to complex fault-finding and repairs, you can trust us to handle your Land Rover with expert care—regardless of its age.

Land Rovers are known for their off-road capability and comfort, but like any vehicle, they have some common issues—especially as they age or see heavy use. Here are a few to watch for:

Common Land Rover Issues:
  • Electrical faults – including window regulators, central locking, infotainment glitches, and warning light errors

  • Air suspension problems – especially on Range Rover models, leading to uneven ride height or sagging

  • Oil leaks – often from the engine, transmission, or differential

  • Timing chain wear – particularly in certain petrol engines (e.g., Ingenium engines)

  • Coolant system issues – such as thermostat failures or radiator leaks

  • Turbo or EGR faults – affecting performance and emissions

  • Differential & transfer box noise – especially on higher-mileage 4WD models

How to Prevent These Issues:
  • Stick to a regular maintenance schedule – especially oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements

  • Address warning lights promptly – don’t ignore dashboard alerts or unusual sounds

  • Get full diagnostics annually – especially if your Land Rover has over 60,000 miles

  • Use quality parts and fluids – avoid cheap replacements that can cause future problems

  • Work with a Land Rover specialist – general garages may miss brand-specific issues

At Alan Curtis Land Rover Specialist, we know what to look for and how to prevent costly problems before they happen. Preventive care is always cheaper than major repair.

Yes – whenever possible, we use genuine Land Rover parts to ensure the highest quality, reliability, and compatibility with your vehicle. These parts are designed to meet the original factory specifications and help maintain your Land Rover’s performance, safety, and value.

In some cases, we may also offer high-quality OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) alternatives that meet or exceed Land Rover’s standards—particularly if they offer better value or availability. We’ll always discuss the options with you and use parts that are best suited to your vehicle and your preferences.

At Alan Curtis Land Rover Specialist, quality and transparency are at the heart of every repair.
